My girlfriend has a 2012 Jeep Wrangler with 3.6 Pentastar V6 and M6 trans that I have been wanting to tune for better power, MPG, and speedo correction for a while after we put the bigger tires on. However, I didn't want to do so with Diablo, which has been the most viable option to date. Enter HP Tuners... There is also still a likelihood that I will be eventually getting a WK1 JGC SRT8 as the all-around daily driver so that as well has helped pull my attention towards what HP Tuners has been accomplishing lately with their new 2.25 architecture.

About a month ago I started really looking into this in depth and pulled the stock ECU tune from the Jeep with my HPT MVPI and sent that and the info.txt file so that Bill@HPT could have it defined in the newest beta update. A few days later I received an email mentioning that the newest beta build included my definition.

After having opened her stock tunefile, as well as a few others from a WK1 JGC SRT8, etc, I will say that while HPT has made a lot of progress with Dodge once having switched to the 2.25 code architecture, which is vastly different than 2.24 apparently; there is still some more progress to be made. The places I see lacking are in the Trans, Trans Diag, Fuel System, and Speedo calibration sections. The Engine and Engine Diag sections look to have a huge majority of stuff available to modify. I haven't loaded the tune yet and I haven't logged with the 2.25 VCM Scanner, but from what I hear, that is working relatively decent. Regardless of the yet to be released access, this is a huge step in the right direction for those who want to tune their Dodge/Jeep/Chrysler vehicles with an existing HPT MPVI.

Here's the lowdown to date taken from the HPT Forums posts of HPT Employees:

HP Tuners is pleased to have beta Dodge support for NGC3 based 2004-2006, NGC4 Based 2007-2010, NGC4A based 2011-2013, GPEC2 based 2011-2015, and GPEC2A based 2014-2015 Dodge, Jeep, Chrysler & RAM applications.

If you are unsure whether your vehicle is supported, please email support with a VIN and we can check for you.

***2.25 Beta is required for all Dodge/Chrysler/Jeep/RAM vehicles. Make sure to download the latest beta from your customer page as new calibrations are added daily. If the beta download link isn't posted to your customer page, to receive access to the latest beta you will need to contact support at: Contact Us requesting access and we'll post it to your customer page. With support now available up to 2015, as well as Chrysler introducing multiple PCMs in the more recent years, I created this thread to aid in which PCM type you need to select to read your PCM. NOTE: You only will need to select a PCM type if VCM Suite doesn't recognize which type automatically when you press "Gather Info".

1Select 2014 RAM Trucks equipped with the 5.7L Hemi have switched to GPEC2A in 2014. From what I've come across so far, it appears that U.S. models are still GPEC2s while primarily Mexico models have switched to GPEC2A. If you read a 2014 RAM Truck with the 5.7L Hemi, you may be asked to re-read if we discover the wrong type is selected.

22015 model year Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep/RAM vehicles require your PCM to be modified by purchasing the PCM modification here ("PCM Modification Service - $249" located under "Order Additional Accessories") and sending your PCM in to be modified. For more information regarding this service, please see the following thread: 2015 Dodge Tuning (Important Information) or email Sales. Once the PCM has been unlocked, your VCM Suite/MPVI will be enabled for 2015 Mopar tuning.

I've been waiting years for this - but its always 1/2 steps or beta/buggy releases.

Most of the fast guys are using diablosport CMR & you can find plenty of skilled tuners to do it for you - but its still unfeasibly priced if you want to DIY it.

From the way Bill@HPT talks, 2.25 is VASTLY different than 2.24 and earlier. They really took an immense leap forward with the programming that should allow for more and better advancements in supporting new vehicles. I suspect that there will be less half steps compared to before, but time will tell.

True, at this point, Diablosport still has more features for Mopar tuning than HPT does. However, being that Diablo CMR software just generally sucks ass in addition to being overpriced, I don't expect that trend to last a heck of a lot longer. Whether it be HPT that knocks them off of the pedestal when it comes to Mopar, or another like SCT, we will see.

They said the same shit about 2.24, and them took 3 years to roll it out.

I disagree. They didn't say the same stuff about 2.24 as they are about 2.25; because 2.24 was built upon similar coding architecture as 2.23 was. The impression I get from what Bill was saying is that 2.25 was a "back to the drawing board" kind of revision in order to start building from a software foundation that would finally be able to support all of the PCM's that they previously had no chance of encompassing with 2.24. I agree that it took forever for them to go from 2.23 full to 2.24 full, but then again I rarely use the regular non-beta because the HPT betas are pretty damned good. I am comfortable working with their beta software.

Anyone who has been around the HPT stuff for a while can easily see the trended upswing that has been happening lately when it comes to development breakthroughs. If you're working from a much better/less outdated foundation, then progress is bound to happen at a faster pace. I don't really see the relevance of your complaint. :dunno:

If that's the case, I need to go buy whatever the hot new car will be and then sell it because they will then release the software within a year. Had my '12 5.0, sold it, and less than a year later support for the Coyotes came out.

You're all welcome.

Wasn't a complaint, just a statement. I've never had issues with hpt, I used 2.23 forever, and am on 2.24 now, I dont need the beta as I have access to all I need for my POS. Just stating a fact that 2.24 was touted as all new, look at the old HPT forum posts. I'm not saying he is wrong or exaggerating either, but it is the same story. I know they were down an engineer back then, so slower pace was to be expected. :dunno:

Though I am not a regular poster on the HPT forums, I have been on them since 2008. I didn't notice anything to that affect when they were talking about the release of 2.24. :dunno: It's kind of moot at this point.

Agree to disagree then, but back OT, I am glad they continue to update and add features so I know my hpt will still be useful in the far future when I switch platforms.
