Ceramic Tint worth it and what %?

Going to get my car tinted next week, they offer Llumar ATC/ATR and then the CTX (ceramic). It's $199 for the regular ATC tint in 20% or 30% and then $349 for the ceramic tint but this is only available in 15 and 30% so I'd be going 30%. Can't decide between either or if there's a huge difference between 20% and 30%.

Anyone have any thoughts on ceramic tint and is it worth the premium? My car has light interior if it matters. I've gotten every vehicle I've ever had tinted but never ceramic so not familiar with it.

Also does it looks darker than regular dyed tints at the same percentages?

I have the Llumar CTX 40 and love it but I only paid $150 for it. On certain angles, I see it as brown and can see the interior. Granted, the 40 isn't that dark in the daytime and my interior is light. Let me see if I can find a pic.

I overpaid for tint on my g8 when i first got it and put on ceramic tint.

I dont really notice a difference... 15% all around

I still feel heat come through, then again, it may be from the non tinted windshield

My tint guy talked me OUT of ceramic stating the benefits will not be seen where we live. More of a florida kinda thing.

yeah I heard not worth it. 20% all around is perfect IMO.

Same. The tint guy sold me on it, then said he'd rather just go down 5% and use standard stuff.

Good to know. I mean it's obviously not BLAZING in Colorado, but it's sunny quite a bit but temps aren't like Florida/Texas/Arizona.


Guess I'm leaning towards the non-ceramic 30% at this point. I still want to see when reversing at night so 20% might be a tad dark.

I've been thinking about this for my TransAm. The 3rd gen has that huge rear glass. Wasn't aware there was a ceramic coating. Now I have read and see there are a lot more options than I knew existed.

TransAm gets unbearably hot at times, with the T-Tops + huge rear glass its basically a solarium.

Have 20% all around, perfect medium IMO. Never been bothered about it.

Don't waste your money on the ceramic, in the northern climates you'll get the same results from a good ATR film at half the cost. Ceramic is only beneficial if you live in hot climates or you're worried about signal interference for GPS etc.

How hard is it to see behind you with your side mirrors at night with 20%?

I'm thinking I'm going to go 30%.

you get used to it.

Ive never gone lower than 15%... Really wanted to do 5% on the Cobra.
