Took the car on its first "road trip" this weekend down to Carbondale to visit a friend at SIU... Here's the results. This was with four people and luggage in the car doing 75-80. 85 at one point as well where I received a speeding ticket. Damnit.

This picture was from the trip home last night. I believe the average was somewhere around 53 going down there, but, I'd been doing city driving earlier in the day.

For a commuter car, it's awesome. As far as something that'll liven your spirits and invigorate your soul, you may want to look elsewhere. Alas, it gets the job done. Has a great fit and finish you simply will not find on an equivalent domestic car for $22,000 and carries on the tradition of the golf chassis of being lively and fun to throw around.

Impressive considering the tonnage you were hauling.

Now take the money you saved on gas and buy yourself a radar detector!!

I haven't gotten a fucking ticket in years... In the month I've owned this car I've gotten two. Both were kind of shitty as far as the situation, but, I was still speeding so I won't complain. I do 10 over in my truck EVERYWHERE and nobody gives a fuck, get a gay little clown shoe and I'm fucked.

These have urea Frank?

Yeah, unfortunately.

I knew I should have done the sportwagon instead of the Patriot

I wish I could've gotten the sportwagen, but they wouldn't be out for a few months in the TDi

That's pure win right there. Fuck yea VW :)

Friggin love it.

Here's pics for anyone that missed it.

Another plus of a small car is having garage space... My truck had an inch of clearance from the tool box to the door when closed. There's a foot between the front of the VW and the ATV with my box and at least eight inches in back. Also narrow enough for the bike to sit beside it.
