Negative. L platform visible in fourth pic down, as well as a barrier wall for some type of local/express lane configuration.

It's 94 inbound

Good eye. I just took a quick glance and saw the sign for California. I drive I55 into the city a couple times a week and for some reason it looked familiar.

:dunno:

Test runs always pose a certain risk for the car and its test driver. One wrong move and the car breaks down or worse, crashes into a wall.

The 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 found that out firsthand recently at the Nurburgring when it crashed in the Green Hell after reportedly trying to set an official lap time. Details behind the crash have been kept under wraps, but judging from these photos, the Corvette Z06 seems to have sustained some heavy damage on the front end, enough to prematurely end the session.

General Motors test driver Jim Mero was reportedly behind the wheel of the Corvette Z06 at the time the crash happened. Fortunately, he was not injured nor was anybody else.

If the ‘Vette really was there to set an official lap time, it looks like we’re going to have to wait a little while longer before we find out what that time is. Nevertheless, we’ll keep our eyes and ears open because there are reports that another Corvette Z06 was in the vicinity, possibly as a backup model in the event the first one has any problems.

Michigan plates on the tow truck so its likely en route to GM...shipped to Ohare then towed home.

Possible, but weird. Why would GM use a local towing company to pick up their super car test mule from the airport? Seems like it would cost far more to tow that far using a third party than just sending one of their own trucks out there.

That said, Shelby Twp. (where that tow truck is from) is located just north of Detroit, so it was probably headed there.

Probably not equipped to handle the gigantic international cargo planes this would have been shipped in.

Car is still sexy as fuck. :nice:

Detroit Metro has a 12,000ft runway (in addition to two 10,000ft runways) and can handle any large cargo hauler that flies today.

Though I don't think there is a large volume of international cargo operations that fly into there because KORD is so close and is used as the midwest hub for international cargo ops.

Probably doesn't matter how it is transported. Most of those cars don't even have vin numbers. And they are destroyed after all testing and showing off is done. At JJC in their auto program we got to see the new (at the time) 2 door genesis from Hyundai. The one they brought had no vin and had that permanent factory stamped plate on the rear. They told us it will be crushed once they finish road testing it. So sad :/
