There has been an update in this case. The owners filed another theft report allowing officers to reopen the case, get a warrant, sieze the car and return it to its rightful owners. They say the car isn't running and it's missing parts, but hopefully they can track those down as well.

So glad this has a happy ending and they got the car.

UPDATE!

KATU reports that the Whites filed a new stolen vehicle report and that enabled police to reopen the case and issue a search warrant and seize the car. According to Portland police, the 'Cuda is now back in the Whites possession although it's incomplete and not in drivable condition. The police department is continuing efforts to recover "many essential parts and components" that are missing. Here's hoping that the 'Cuda gets back on the road and dragstrip soon.

I'd love to hear the trail this car has taken since it was initially stolen in '01 to now.

I found a half hour clip of Lee Sitton talking to a radio show out there about the situation. What a douchebag plenty of hints over the years that this car IS stolen, and he just kind of skates around it.
