The 2015 Chevrolet Colorado and 2015 GMC Canyon dealer ordering guide has come out, revealing a bump in horsepower for both gasoline engines and a higher torque rating for the four-cylinder. Plus, the full list of all possible option combinations.

2015 Chevrolet Colorado/2015 GMC Canyon Official Engine Output Numbers:

2.5L I4, DI, DOHC, VVT: 200 hp [149.0 kW] @ 6300 rpm, 191 lb-ft of torque [259 N-m] @ 4400 rpm

3.6L SIDI DOHC V6 VVT (305 hp [229 kW] @ 6800 rpm, 269 lb-ft of torque [365 N-m] @ 4300 rpm)

2.8L Duramax Diesel: still unconfirmed. Expected approximately 200 hp and 368 lb-ft of torque, release scheduled for 2016.

(No fuel economy claims have been made yet.)

That's 7 horsepower and 7 lb-ft of torque stronger than the tentative figures we'd seen previously of the four-cylinder's output, and an extra 3 HP for the V6. Truck Trend points out that's the same output as the Pentastar V6 in the Ram 1500.

In both GMs, the smaller engine will be standard on the smaller-sized trucks while the V6 is standard on the Crew Cab and Crew Cab Long Box.

Towing rating has been placed at a monstrous 7,500 pounds with the "trailering package" on the V6, which includes a G80 automatically locking differential. That smokes the closest in-class competitor; the V6 Tacoma, which tops out at 6,500 pounds with a towing package. Four-cylinder Colorados and Canyons will be able to pull 3,500 pounds.

The Z71 Off-Road package on both trucks will be the same as what's in GM's full size lineup: Rancho shocks, hill descent control, and a few extra sheets of "armor" underneath.

I couldn't find glaring differences in the optioning packages between the GMC and Bowtie-badged trucks, but take a look and let us know what you find interesting!

7500 lbs is no joke. :fy:

just a guess.
when i was looking for midsize trucks in 09, i stopped at a chevy dealer and a crew cab Z71 Colorado was 31k.

and the next row over had Silverados for 35-40.

i guess a midsized truck should be more "affordable" vs the pricing of a full size.

( side note, the sticker on my frontier was 30K, but with an employee discount and rebates, i got it for 26K OTD )

Well I think they thought also with this new truck. they were going to be able to keep costs down, since it shares a frame with the fullsize trucks- perhaps that will help it's case?

I had one in an s10 blazer, never has problems but I just remember reading how weak they were, seems strange they would make it a towing machinewith a "weak" llink

I think it's more of a widely promoted fable than fact.

my burban had one- no issues- my truck now has one- no issues...

i know though that ktraver97ss has grenaded a few, but he has also gone through tran's and whatever the hell else that truck has eaten
