State Farm was able to get mine exempt with a classic car policy. I think for them it just had to be 10 years or older. Actually next year I can put antique plates on the beast.......lol

As far as vanity plates you will just need to go through the DMV Jim. And I know, dealing with the DMV is like playing in Satan's sand box.

Thats weird that they are trying to make you do all that, the last time that this happened to me I walked into the DMV and told them that my plates were expired for more than a year and they said I could just purchase new plates, might be worth going to a different DMV

I've went to the secretary of states office more than once & got different plates.
The car had to be unregistered for 13 months I think was the stipulation.

Just paid for registration & got new plates on the spot.
If you want personalized plates, 99.9% sure they'll make you have current plates to apply for them.

I hope this is NOT the case!

So it turns out I was making this a lot bigger deal than it was.

I sat down with lady at the DMV and told her my plates expired in November of 2012, my car has been in storage since that time, and that I wanted to get some vanity plates. She said ok, looked up the plate I wanted, filled out my form, and asked for payment. Took all of about 5 minutes.

Are you changing up the gearing and bringing this bitch to the 1/2 mile?

No, I will not be changing up the gearing. I need to be able to get into the powerband quickly since I do not start making good boost until my upper RPM's. The car would be kind of a dog I think if I put in anything less than a 4.10 right now and gears are not something I am going to be swapping for just one event. The 4.10's are perfect for the street. I might change them down the road as the setup gets more radical, but for now they are great!

Makes sense. Ever think about doing something along the lines of dropping pulley size on the blower and running a waste gate type set up as well? Might help bring the boost on earlier while limiting the total amount of boost your motor sees. Pretty much just run the same amount of boost, but it will come on earlier and torque curve would be better...at least I think that is how it would work

I did think about doing a Venturi setup in conjunction with a smaller pulley similar to what A&A would do with Vettes, but that setup probably would generate way too high of IAT's. I was not about to pioneer a new way of blowing up motors since it was not proven on my car!

I also looked into the waste gate option to limit the amount of boost generated, but it would have eaten up and way exceeded my budget to test and figure out the best setup.

I figure by the time I have more money to throw at the car, a built bottom end is going in and then the boost will be plenty from there on out.

I had to renew my current plates in order to purchase a vanity plate.

So I now have two sets of plates with 2015 stickers.
