Long-tube headers or tubular manifolds?

This is what LS3 Vette manifolds look like. The tubular manifolds gain power whens swapped on regular log style manifolds of other LSX engines.

LOL, and then people ask why German cars are more expensive. Let's compare the LS3 exhaust manifolds to the M3 headers:
M3 for sure had headers, wouldn't call them long tubes, but they are headers. The R8 has headers too, not sure what they look like but when we did the exhaust you could see the header piping coming into a collector and then to the exhaust.

Exhaust has been improved over the last few decades. A stock Foxbody or f body manifolds in the 80s-90s left much room for improvement. But the new coyote has a nice tri-y header design that works well. Guys are only picking up 10-12 rwhp with larger diameter aftermarket units. I sat that is pretty good for a factory header. When they add cat delete pipes it picks up about another 10 rwhp.

The headers on the GM cars don't seem as bad either. 25hp seems like a lot. But was that the whole story? Factory cats still on the car? Or higher flow cats get installed with the headers? You know what I mean?

Yup, looks like a cost issue  One reason gains are likely minimal. Those are amazing for a factory piece.

Like? European cars have them. Both my m3 and R8 have headers stock...

Sound, emissions, and fuel economy. It would be hard for a big V8 like the LT1 to pass sound standard with long tubes.

Also, as pointed out below, factory manifolds (or shorty headers) have become pretty efficient. As Pratt pointed out, simply deleting the cats free up the majority of hp that long tubes are good for.

Supercharged, bitches

LMR Supercharged C7 makes over 700rwhp.

And their test car already had one of LMR's heads and cam packages before outfitting it with a prototype of A&A Corvette's C7 supercharger kit that uses a Vortech V3-Si-trim head unit.
