Blower motor install : 06 Impala

I've been procrastinating buying a blower motor. It's been noisier than all hell for months. Today it finally blew out. I had to pull over as I though the car was on fire. Burning smell and smoke.

We'll, how easy is the install?

If I can save a few bucks and do it myself I'll do that. If it's too complicated I'll pay a mechanic the $150 that said he'd do it for.

if its the same as a grand prix its not very hard to install, its harder to get into the position to install it, you have to get your upper body into the foot well on the passenger side looking up and its right there i think maybe 1 pannel covering it up, a couple screws and its out

Plugged in the new one and its not turning. Tried switching the relays and no go

good possibility, check to see if you have power coming out of the connector
that plugs into the blower motor...

I'm pretty sure I have a brand new resistor that should be the same for that car I bypassed mine and just run it full blast off a switch

Hot wired the blower motor and it worked. It's the resistor.

resister setups use a high speed relay so it still works on 5/max

Still doesn't work with the new resistor . But, how the hell do unbolt the resistor

see that ear, pry it down and the melted plastic pops off

what control head is it?

iirc its hollow and you use trim screws to fasten in the new one.

cheaper and faster onthe assembly line to sonic weld that to the box when the sonic weld the hvac box halves together

yes I ended up breaking of the old one, but now that the new one is plugged in it still doesn't work

do you have power at the blower motor pwm module?

Blower Motor Control Processor
The blower motor control processor is an interface between the HVAC control module and the blower motor. The blower motor speed control, battery positive voltage and ground circuits enable the control processor to operate. The HVAC control module provides a pulse width modulation (PWM) signal to the control processor in order to command the blower motor speed. The processor supplies 12 volts to the blower motor through the blower motor voltage supply circuit. The control processor uses the blower motor ground as a low side control to adjust the blower motor speed.

Not sure if there's power to the module. The 30 amp fuse is good though.
