The guys at Atlanta performance have swapped out the Toyota unit for a good old LS3. Also, they yanked the Toyota tranny out and replaced it with a TR6060 and an AWD, GM transfer case. The drivetrain is all American, but you wouldn’t really know it by a casual glance. All told, they have it making 400 horsepower at the wheels. Sounds like a very capable combo to me.
A few people on the youtube comments have expressed interest in doing the same thing to their Tacomas. It makes me wonder if this is a common swap, or if this is just another case of the LS being perfect for every situation.
