I happen to have a brake controller and weight distributing hitch I'd let go for a decent price.....

tekonsha P3, brand new, don't remember the hitch brand but it's also never been used. I was going to go through the trouble of hooking up this stuff for my boat and converting to EOH brakes on my trailer.

im not totally sure if this harness will for sure work... but...

10.60 for the adapter

and $33.99 for a entry level decent-ish controller.

This thread is kinda funny. Glad we have a few guys that know some things about trailering.

Otherwise you'd probably be pulling 3 car enclosed with an Aveo.

Or the guy I passed in central Illinois with a Saturn vue on a trailer with 1" straps holding it down.

i've been in some situations.

bad.

oh but I can definitely take a boat less than 23 feet long on a trailer behind a long bed extended cab through most drive-thru's and have quite a few times.

No more than 3. I drove past him as fast as I could when I saw that.

i will also admit i have had a trailer come off... yep. getting onto rt 53 north off of 62 on the on ramp- i saw the trailer go to take out an x5 next to me as it bounced off , i calmly got to the side slowly... boat never hit the truck and didn't get hurt at all.

my pride was hurt though when I had to call "backup" at 3 am on a sunday night /monday morning and tell them i needed help picking the boat/trailer tongue up off of the ground.

Some learn the hard way, no need for others to make those mistakes.

My wife and I go back and forth about us pulling her horse places. As of now we leave it to professionals.

it's not bad. if you do it and take your time you are fine.

my experience was a perfect storm situation... the pin bounced out of the trailer i was pulling because it was the incorrect one... it was a situation where i risked it to get home- as i had done quite a few other times and lost and luckily nothing/no one got hurt.

but when you are making upwards of 500+ different pulls in a year and tacking on 20-25k a year pulling, something will eventually catch up to you.

you'd probably shit yourself riding with me pulling a trailer.

bob & weave is an understatement.

i've also mastered the "shaddow slow"

where you get next to someone on a two lane road that won't let you get ahead of the car in front of them... with the trailer next to them begin to slowly decelerate until you notice the car slowing as well... once there is a gap, hammer down and shoot that bitch!

Hahah, trailers don't scare me. I just understand the differences they create versus normal.

I do that with or without a trailer. Works like a charm.

TBSS tow fine - especially with the rear air ride!! get a brake controller and put the heavy stuff over the axles... like mentioned above and you should have no problems

Someone here mentioned the load distributing hitch/tongue. This really makes a difference. Can't be too safe towing. I used to check all connections and had marked all the bolts on the car and tow bar so I knew at a glance if anything was coming loose. Still had an ass puckering failure towing my Fusion in the Adirondack Mountains. The safety clip on my tow bar failed, and the extreme loading/stress of the mountains worked the pin loose. If I wasn't going 5 MPH around that hairpin turn with no guardrail when the car came loose I probably wouldn't be here.

made it, been an exhausting couple days, I picked up a trailer brake controller, strapped that bitch on, and what a difference, handled the load better full with it, than empty without it. Pulled it like a BAUCE, pulled down a healthy 9 mpgs with a full 20ft trailer, not bad.
