Help! Car has no power and accelerates very slow!

So I decided to take my recently bought s13 for a drive this afternoon, when I put it in 1st gear and press the gas, it accelerates very slow!! What the heck it feels like it has no power!

It was running and driving perfectly yesterday

It has the oil warning light on, but it has oil!

It feels like your accelerating from 3rd or 4th gear.

What the heck is the problem? Kinda weird that it happened over night? :/

I am going to do an engine swap, but I was planning that for next year.

If it was on limp mode it wouldn't even start right? And I wish xD its a 240sx s13 all stock

Limp mode kicks is in when the system finds a problem. If oil light is on it Prolly means low oil psi. Maybe the wire to the oil psi sensor got damaged. Computer reads 0 psi...limp mode.

You can only limp around similar to what you described....hence limp mode. Gonna have to hook it up to some sort of engine diagnosis reader. AutoZone won't be able to get it outa limp mode but can read the code.

What if i disconnect the battery and then reconnect it? Won't that reset the computer? xD

All have look at it tomorrow. didn't do anything to it today, since it was getting dark.

Try it but if it is a real problem it will just go back to limp mode again.

Isnt this OBD1? I dont think they went into limp mode back then? But I would change out the oil pressure sender first to rule it out

Obd 1 shouldn't have a limp mode. Is the the motor pulling smooth in it's weakness, or is it jumpy? Which oil light is on, the low level or low pressure? We need mor3 infos.

Does it rev above 2500 rpm? Any error codes. I know my 300zx will go in limp mode and it is obdI and the S13 and Z32 are pretty similar.

Well, if it does have a limp mode, can we assume the oil light issue is enough to trigger it?

Usually not, Limp mode/only revving to 2500 rpm etc is mostly from bad maf along with some other issues. Last I checked the oil pressure sensor is really only hooked up to the gauge cluster and not the ecu.

The engine runs smoothly not jumpy at all, the rpm cluster doesn't work. But it dose sound like it's under 2500 rpm it's kinda quite :/

And Idk it was just a red light with an oil symbol on it xD. I will scan it tomorrow for any error codes, and such stuff.

So today in the morning, I disconnected the battery and the oil warning light went away, but it still drove like it the day before :/ and then it turned off on me while I was driving and it didn't want to turn back one. It keep cranking but it didn't turn on.

Well at least its now a hard failure so you'll be able to figure it out...
Fuel air and spark...start checkin and narrow it down...

I think it might be the fuel pump, or maybe the injectors :/

did the rpm gauge ever work? you probably have a failed crank sensor, but like turbo400 said start checking for spark, fuel, and air.

What do the plugs look like?

All of your injectors don't fail at once. They do hate ethanol and will fail but not at once like this or cause you to not start.

1. How terrible is the harness in this car?
2. No acceleration/limit to 2500rpm is usually maf or maf wiring.
3. No fuel is usually cas related first, When you spin it you should hear the fuel pump prime/injectors fire.
4. To much fuel can sometime be attributed to coolant sensor going bad (car runs rich/dies)

I think it's the fule pump, because I don't hear it turn on right before I turn the key to turn the car on, I'm busy with work right now, so I can't really look at it. I was going to have Friday off, but they ask me to go in tomorrow.

I won't get around to it until Saturday :/

I really hope it's the fule pump and not something more serious.

I checked it on Saturday and the car turned on wtf? I checked everything, fuel pump, battery, alternator, spark plugs. All the fluids are normal including the color of them.

Could it be the timing? A vacuum leek? :/

Vacuum leak was my first thought, until you mentioned that it wouldn't start at all. Have you checked your vac lines and connection to your MAF?

Ha I was just looking at it right now and it turned off on me again wtf now it won't turn on :/
