Way to give the 6.5 a fair shake. Some last forever too. I had a 96 2500 burb with a 6.5TD in it with 250k on the clock... traded it to a member here and its still running just fine!

it was just one of the trucks on the list. the bottom at that.. I have no experience what so ever with them. first 2 people I get responses from mention the heads.

not to say the heads dont have problems sometimes.... but it doesnt make them useless.

theres a reason gm had massive warranty issues with the 6.5TD

ive worked on wayyyyyy too many of em to know that unless its an NA... stay away

lots better engines out there....you can end up with a dirt cheap truck to get one with the blown motor and swap it to gas and enjoy no emissions

it isn't that bad of a truck but he also wants 5 for it. I didn't think it was really worth that much then so now I don't think so at all. look at my other thread

I have no problems with it other then problems you would find on any truck with 260k on the clock... the 6.5 is a stout motor for what it is - its no duramax, cummins, or powerstroke - but you are not paying those prices... and it does the job with no complaints. they are very basic diesels which is good... they have been around forever so a lot of people know the common problems/fixes for them - depending on what your needs are they can be great trucks...
