TX13 was last weekened. Texas Mile is this weekend. Two different events. For whatever reason, I forgot that the mile also happens towards the end of March.
You would really think that with all the money going into the cars and event they would try and make it a better surface. It always looks like a terrible ride on any dash cam or gopro
I think it's a combination of the surface, as well as the aero needed at these speed levels. Acceleration past 200mph in a factory car body never meant to go that fast is asking for it. Hit a nice dip, crack, bump or what have you, air stream breaks under the car and its game over.
