Back in 2009, I bought a ported box and two 12's from syP. Used them for a while and then the amp that came with them blew up. The speakers are ARC Audio KAR-series 12D. The amp that blew up was an Audiofonics ADF241. I could turn my stereo up to about half volume and then it'd cut off and blink red lights on the amp.. so I kept it down. One day the amp literally began sparking everywhere. Put a new fuse in the amp and it still didn't work.. so I put them on the shelf in my garage in 2010 and haven't really looked at them since. I'd like to find an amp that will work with these.

The subs themselves.. yes I'm aware the box is upside down on the shelf.

Here's a screencap of specs from the manufacturer's website on this model judging by what's on the back of the speaker.

So basically.. with the specs up there, can you guys explain how this works, what to look for, and what might be some decent (read: don't need super awesome quality. just want some bump in the trunk like every other buick like this you see. ) amplifiers ?

if not, teh other alternative is I've also been looking at bazooka tubes that come with class-d amplifiers built in.

I do better asking questions than searching for answers when I don't know what to look up.

My new setup I put into my g8, I used an old school JL Audio amp... Oldschool amps > newschool amps.

Amp cutting out is probably thermal shutdown. Amp throwing sparks... DEAD AMP.

Take that box to the closest BB and see what they suggest for an amp.

Your subs are only 250 watts rms. You dont need any large or fancy amp. Go hit the best buy and pickup a budget friendly class d mono amp pioneer or kenwood etc. Or as suggested talk to an expert like JDHedman or the twistedsound guys.

That used JL 250 that was for sale on here would be more than enough, I've got four 7.7's four tweeters and a 10 running off one 600x6 JL amp in my boat and it fucking rocks it kept blowing speakers rated for twice what it puts out and they wer also JL speakers not cheap stuff

i'd get a jl 500/1.

you have dual voice coil subs.

wire each sub as the negative of coil 1 to the positive of coil 2. this will make each sub an 8 ohm load wired in serial.

then put the positive of coil 1 to the amp positive for both subs. put the negative of coil 2 to the negative of the amp. this will be wiring them in parallel to present a final 4 ohm load.

the amp is mono and puts 500 watts rms into a 1.5 to 4 ohm load.

i'd be scared of a 250/1 clipping. not sure what the amp market today looks like as i have been out of it for an eternity, but the above would do you good.

ill say it agian... i'd worry about what box he is using far before the amp... cuz you could have an awesome sub and amp but if the box is shit... you'll never get the results you want.
