tire size

okay guys, im looking to replace the tires on the t/a. plan on running a nitto NT05r on the rear and a cheap skinnier tire up front. the car is soon to be a "track only" car (it will still be driven every now and then, just not daily like it currently is)

the wheels are 17" 9.5wide. question is, is there a benefit to putting a 315 on the rear although they don't technically fit? i mean, if the tire doesn't fit correctly it's not going to be able to preform to it's capabilities, correct? i see guys putting them on no matter what though...

same as the front, smallest you are supposed to put on the car is a 255, can i stretch a smaller tire on to it without any ill effects at higher speeds?

275/40/17 for the rear. If you want a little more side wall and a little more contact patch you could go with a 295/45/17 too. Both would work well.

How wide are your front wheels?

Not on street tires, no. It will just look goof because the tire will be stretched.

No problem. For the event I'd go with the 295 rear tire. The least amount of time spent in O/D the better.
