Auto Insurance for a numbers car? (ex. car 302/800 built)

I thought I read somewhere that there is an Antique Insurance if a car has a placard with a numbers build on it?

For example, this car is 301/800 built or something along those lines, but isn't necessarily 20+ years old. I think Cobras fall into this category and certain corvettes.

Anyone know what I am talking about?

Yup. I have heard of this before. I felt like the company might have been out of california. It Sounded like a insurance company that takes into account the rareity of the vehicle without robbing you on cost. Saw it on a car show with that one guy with a huge curly mustache.

I had state farm specialty car insurance on my turbo third gen camaro. It was insured to whatever amount I want. And it was VERY CHEAP. The only catch was I was techniqally only allowed to drive 10k a year. Lucky food me my speedo didn't work haha

Haggerty is the one your thinking about with the collector car coverage, but its pretty expensive, and comes with lots of stipulations, youd probably be better with an agree'd upon value policy as they are usually cheaper and with no restrictions (such as storage with fire sprinklers/monitoring)

there are other companies like grundy and chubb

Expensive? I just went through geico for the car im looking at and it was $1700/yr

Just went through Hagerty and its $731/yr assuming I drive less than 3k miles/year which I normall do anyways with my garage kept cars.

Do not currently have Geico.. Esurance will not insure this type of vehicle

Let me rephrase, With Geico, my ESCAPE and <potential new car> It would be $1700/yr.

I was getting quotes elsewhere at $17-1800/yr for the <potential new car> alone... FML

Just got off the phone with Hagerty, $731/yr as long as its in a garage.. I can certainly do that.
