White House clears way for NHTSA to mandate vehicle black boxes

i see both good and bad for this stuff...im sure ya'll would love to pay an extra 1-5k for a car.... but  at vehicles from the 90's having black boxes

many of those systems are airbag /collision systems with nothing more than sensor trigger data and a limited data "snapshot" for fault detection/diagnostics

this is right up there with OBD3 implementation and GPS tracked info for taxing per mile traveled :hsughlol:

keep in mind they could force you to retrofit stand alone systems to keep that "classic" car on the road.

in reality its probably just gonna mean that those without the systems will have higher insurance/registaration fee's, etc. whatever they need to do to squeeze more blood from the turnips

remember the NHTSA is also the same fucks trying to implement the computerized EOBR for commercial vehicles.

just think a computerized "enhanced on board recorder" that replace the paper hours of service logs....and its supposed to cut back on truckers who run illegally...but the system cannot account for on duty not driving hours...only on the road hours....so if anything it makes it easier for truckers and companies to break HOS and maximize road time even though many times a trucker will be on duty while waiting 2-8 hours for a load.

As someone who ones worked for the DNC, I'll say this:

Do you really believe that YOU are so important that someone working in a government office is going to sit around and track YOU without probable cause? With ALL the other things they need to do? Really? on a 3-1/2 day work week?

No, there really nothing to worry about and there's no fines or fees with this, OBD 3 is nothing more than sensor trigger data and a better data "snapshot" for finding fault detection/diagnostics...makes job a bit ezer for us Auto Techs

Famous last words. The data will always be used against you.
Get in an accident? They'll pull the data. Get a speeding ticket? They'll pull the data.

And then wait until they add GPS tracking to it.
