keep my car, or 85 monte ss

so i have a little delima im faced with...i have always had a hardon for the 80's monte SS. and they are becoming harder and harder to find nice ones. i have my 98 trans am (6.0, H/C/I) car listed a few places just for shit and giggles as in seeing what's out there. but i just had a guy offer me a nice 85 SS. i have never owned an older car or a carb'd car...just looking to see what you guys suggest or would do.

keep the t/a, or trade for the monte?

here is the monte in question, we have been texting back and forth all day.

I'm the second owner, 1985 MONTE Carlo SS with 88k miles on the body and less than 1500 miles on a ZZ4 crate motor. Aluminum heads, msd ignition, edelbrock intake and 750 carb tricked out, headers, eaton posi unit with moser axles and 3.73 gears, 350 turbo trans with 2800 stall.

My first car was an 88 LS, so I've always got a soft spot for montes. That ones damn nice lookin. I wouldnt get rid of my gto for one, but Id love to pick up another one as a fun little side car.

I will build a monte Ss one day befor I die, I always wanted one but not having a garage put a damper on things. I would keep ur ta over that monte unless u getting cash to boot.

Only way I would do it is trade rollers with cash coming to you and put the drive train out of the TA into the Monte. That does look like a clean Monte, but I wouldn't do it if it didn't have a LS motor

I'd have a hard time buying someone else's project car even if it runs. So my advice is to find a monte that's stock or close to it and mod it the way you want plus you know it'll be done right. Not that this guy did a hack job or anything but you never know

Keep T/A and find an Aero Coupe with T-Tops. Then swap in a carbed LS1.

x2 on aerocoupes being ugly. im thinking im going to pass. with no OD and 3.73 gears that thing is going to suck at hgwy speeds and the t/a is a daily driver for now. granted i dont go on the hgwy often but occasionally i like just going out and cruising country roads and whatnot.

That monte does not look that nice to me. And I like G-bodies. I wouldn't get rid of the TA.

That motor also looks to have been sitting for a while with all the aluminum corrosion on the valve covers.

oh and aerocoupes are pretty hideous. My car looks like an aerocoupe when I put the car cover on it. DO NOT LIKE.

I like the ss but as said before that motor looks pretty crusty, I also like the ta but I'd be turbo in either one and the ss has the room, but if its going to be your DD for a while the ta is more practical
