Since Im a fairly new guy here, and most people dont know my car buying and selling past, I thought it was a good idea to show off what I have had since getting into cars. Plus I was going though my photobucket and realized I had all these pics still. So enjoy.
First real sports car 2004 Mustang GT - bought new. This is not counting the 1991 Camaro RS TBI 5.0 I had when I was 16....
Next up I traded that in on my mook-a-like 04 cobra. I had no idea the cobra existed when I got the GT. If I did, i would have just bought the cobra.
Then this funny thing happened. I got the notion that I wanted a vette. And before I was even ready/able to buy one, I went window shopping. I found this car coming off the truck at woodfield chevy. It was the car I wanted, but 6 months too early. I had just switched jobs, and wanted to wait until I knew the job was good before I pulled the trigger on a car more than twice the price my cobra was. Here are the pics I took of it when I saw them taking it off the truck.
So after badgering my wife for like 2 months, she finally agreed we could "try" to find a cheap base car and see what happens. Well, I knew that one I wanted was over at schaumburg chevy, so I called to see if they still had it. Sure enough it was in the showroom, still there and it was indeed a base base base car. So we ran over there in the cobra and talked numbers. It all worked out, but I ended up leasing it. It was a hard thing to tell people, but the payment was right around $550 for a base $40k vette, and there was no other way I could get that close on a buy.
So fast forward a year, and I was still playing around with the guys at SVTP. And I was sick and tired of getting razzed about the LS2 being slow and so on, so I pulled the trigger on a blower kit.
The vette before I sold it.
So my wife and I got pregnant and decided to get rid of the vette for a more "family" type car. I could only think of one car that would meet those needs.........
Yeah, if you need to know, two car seats did fit in the back. I just couldnt drive it and the wife couldnt sit in it..... So after enjoying all the looks and comments about how awesome it was, I changed it around.
Tints, lowered it, LCAs, UCA, PHB, pulley, intake and tune. The car made 535rwhp and 520rwtq. I ran a best of 12.0@122 on the stock tires with all mods installed. It was mean on the street, and the tq was just killer. But it was getting expensive to maintain. The oil changes were over $140 because of the 8 qts of synthetic 5w50 it took. And I was DDing the car. I drove it completely over two winters believe it or not. Fucking crazy scary in the snow on the stock tires. And it had an oil leak that started. So off to the dealer it went. This was when the 5.0s came out, and I was in love with them over that lopey idle tune.
So here comes another new car. Eagles 2011 GT. Yeah it was mine for 1106 miles. There is a very long, and angering story behind what happened and why, and I will skip that for now. But here are the glorious pics of it before all hell broke loose. That color will forever be my favorite.
And after that debacle, came the "other" 2011 GT. This one was a loaded GTCS with nav and all. It was something I took because it was the last 2011 we could find in 300 miles that was manual and didnt have a weird saddle or red interior. I wasnt in love with it, but I needed to get another 2011 to get the same financing deal I got on the other one. It was worth it.
Now that I had another white mustang, I wanted to do the same thing with the look. Got almost all the way there before it got traded.....lol
And this car was also the first car I ever used drag radials with, and they were awesome. Bald MT ET streets. 305/35/18 on an 18x10 Voxx wheel that I plastidipped. They hooked awesome and allowed me to cut a best of 1.67 60'@ 16psi of pressure. Best ET was [email protected]. Never got that 11 second pass because the clutch started acting up when I was shifting way past the 6850 soft limiter after the tune. The car was totally good for 11.8's. with that mph. Just couldnt get a clean pass after all the mods were on.
That car too had some small issues starting to come up, and I was sick of mustangs at that point. I had longed for another vette, and my career has now taken off so I was able to get a DD for the kids and a toy car to boot.
I found this gem once again at woodfield chevy, and it was almost brandnew. 1100 miles, and it was a CPO car. Certified by GM which has a bunch of perks for financing, the warranty and maintenance. They treated me fair on both cars and in the finance office, so I cracked the piggy bank and went all in.
And now the tints I already posted about.
I was able to do what I did beause of a few very good friends in the car business I still have, initial money down on the first couple cars/equity and just plain old dumb luck. But now I have broken the bank on this one, and its here to stay......DOH. No matter, its like an insurance policy. Once its paid for in a few years, its still going to be worth $40k or more. A nice down payment on a gallardo or something some day...........
