They increase exhaust scavenging/equalize exhaust pressures between both banks. 3 of them like this guy did is a total waste though.

C.Evans said is 100% correct. A good true dual exhaust has a one X or H style crossover that in optimum configuration would be much closer to the headers. 3 of them in any car is just silly. In this case the guy did it because he is trying to get the perfect exhaust note from his exhaust. It is similar to other threads where guys run 3 mufflers per side (yes 6 total) to quiet down their exhaust making a 200lb true dual exhaust system. If they want quiet setup run a catted Y pipe with a good flowmaster merge and take a 5hp loss.. Its better to loose 5hp than gain 200lbs of useless weight. Just part of the silly things people do to get the "perfect" exhaust note.

I'm curious to hear it as well but he's got like $250-$300 is Magnaflow X merges on there so I hope it sounds decent or its a bunch of wasted money.

Fbodies only have that nasty rasp when on a catless Y pipe with a crappy merge. When you go duals or use a Flowmaster merge on the Y the rasp is gone.
