Cool because he kept his BMW all BMW and the look of it under the hood can't be beat.. but on the power end not soo impressive. I read the thread and its got no intercooler, only water injection, yielding around 400whp. The stock Z3 M with the straight 6 had 315hp at the flywheel.

I saw the 400 before I read it all and thought you were joking. Oh my. That's a lot of work and money for 400 hp.

if it is an 850 motor, then of course it is 5.0 liters.

BMW naming convention not difficult.

8- body series
50 - motor displacement. put a dot in the middle.

Bad news, you are wrong. :hsughlol:

For the E36's:

1996+ 318's, 1.9 liter motor (M44, the previous M42 was 1.8 liters)

323's - 2.5 liter motor

325's - the same 2.5 liter motor

NORMALLY the convention is correct, but not always.

and BTW, the 840 came with a 4.4 liter motor ;-)

And the 850CSi came with a 5.6
