I know there were a few other theads but they were titled from previous years. Anyway I wanted to start a new one since this will be the first year the entire course is paved. Time to let the aero wars begin.

Yeah whole course paved. They did to increase tourism revenue.

LOL no they didn't. They were threatened with a lawsuit by a bogus tree hugger organization because cars driving on dirt automatically means runoff and pollution are ruining the environment but somehow paving it magically makes the pollution go away.

Hmmm. Maybe I'm crazy...I thought I read it but can't find it...oh well:dunno:

Either way this......

The group sued in 1998, claiming that 1.5 million tons of gravel dumped on the highway since 1970 had polluted streams, damaged vegetation and choked wetlands. The city, which runs the highway for the U.S. Forest Service, agreed in a settlement to complete paving by 2012.

....is about the dumbest thing I have ever heard.

Isn't the mountain made of rock and gravel? wouldn't years of erosion do the same thing?

I don't hate that its all paved though. Was cool to see them transfer from tarmac to gravel but there should be some crazy fast times coming now and a whole new breed of cars and bikes which I'm excited for.

Well this year was all jacked up I guess.

Like 8 or 9 red flags. Lots of crashes and weather(rain and snow).
Race Shortened to Glen Cove for the last few hours.

But there is a new record holder

Rhys Millen with a time of 9:46:164 in his Time Attack Genesis

Since the course is all paved now though it was a no brainer the record would be broken.

I guess almost all of the unlimited class either had mechanical failures or crashed. Paul Dallenbach crashed into some trees and I guess had to be airlifted.

Monster Tajima had a fire right after the start.

Looks like they need to make this a 2 day event if they want to keep the same amount of entrys next year.
