So 2 weeks ago I put the summer shoes (factory reproduction 22's) on my Trailblazer and last Wednesday I started losing air in my passenger front tire. I figured it was no big deal and I just picked up a nail in the lot at work or in one of the construction areas I drive thru. WRONG!!! These wonderful roads with their giant potholes, horrible railroad crossings and speed bump like expansion joints got my rim and cracked it on the inside lip. I'm fucking pissed and want to go after the state for money but we all know I won't get a penny and I can't prove where it happened anyway. I'm taking it to Wheels America in Arlington Heights/Elk Grove today after work and praying it won't cost me what a new rim will cost.

Yeah that happened to me 2 summers ago, I tried to go after the city of Palatine, had pictures and locations and proof that their construction (it was in a construction zone) was out of code, and I still didn't get shit out of them, ended up having to buy a new rim.

Man, that's bad. You had to feel that when you hit it, even in a Trailblazer.

On a lowered Trailblazer with 22's and low(ish) profile tires I definitley feel it and I'm amazed it didn't destroy the tire. If anyone is going southbound in the Rt 53 express lanes stay out of the right lane, the expansion joint going over Algonquin Rd is most likely what did it. The road lifts up what feels like at least an inch on the passenger side and you're hitting it at highway speeds.

I drive that every day in the right lane :dunno:

Selling homes on the Gulf Coast of Florida
All state roads in and near Manatee county including 75

His area is just a little north of the stretch of 75 I take to the casino in Sarasota.

Nice part about Florida highways is the 70 mph posted limit and 80 mph "real" limit. Even in construction areas, the normal speed limit is still usually in effect except fines are doubled. No long stretches of 45 mph construction like Illinois. I set the cruise on 79 for the middle of the night ride home from the casino and relax. I cut it down to 73 through the 9 miles of construction and then back up to 79. Potholes are such a rarity you don't have to worry about them. Granted, no freezing/thawing stress on the roads so it's easier to maintain them but the highway dept. still does a good job.
