A friend is rebuilding a 3.4L from a 1994 Firebird to swap into his Fiero. He needs the upper gasket kit for the engine. So at work we looked up the price on Auto Zones website. Using the Schaumburg Store near my house they list it as $52.99. Well we work over in Palatine so at lunch we went to the Auto Zone near work and the guy says the price is $69.99 !!! I asked why it was $17 more and was told that Auto Zone prices are set by what area the store is located!

So we head back to work and look up prices on their website:
Here is an example, This is the upper gasket set for a 1993-1995 Firebird 3.4L engine.

Palatine
HS9105PT $69.99

Schaumburg
HS9105PT $52.99

Carol Stream
HS9105PT $54.99

Elgin
HS9105PT $69.99

Carpentersville
HS9105PT $69.99

Crystal Lake
HS9105PT $55.99

Glendale Heights
HS9105PT $52.99

If you go onto Auto Zone's website and select a store, Look up your part then click through the different stores in the area and see how much the prices really change! My suggestion if you shop at Auto Zone is to locate the least expensive store near you by searching through their website.

Needless to say, I bought the set for him at the store near my house and saved him $17.
