I used to have a 97 4wd suburban
when the domestic trucks first started using that electronic shift on the fly 4wd they all were horribly designed and broke constantly
needless to say i replaced the shift actuator motor thing twice, and had to replace the front axle because the little thing that the motor attaches to inside the pumpkin snapped and everything in there got chewed up
probably something wrong with your front differential/axle
put the car up in the air and engage 4wd to determine where the problem is, make sure ur front driveshaft is spinning, otherwise you have a problem with the t-case, if front driveshaft spins then it's something with the front axle.
