Mod motor oil capacity!

I've been seeing a lot of different opinions on the amount of oil you should put in these mod motors. I wanted to see how much you guys are using. When i first bought my car the dealership did an oil change and after two months it spun the 2 rear rod bearings. I shut it down and checked the oil as soon as i heard the rod knocking and it was bone dry. Now i checked the oil every two weeks and it was always right below full. To this day i still don't know where the 5 quarts of oil went. It never leaked or burnt any oil!

also remember 2v heads don't hold as much as the 4v so 7 quarts not quite as necessary.

I put in 7 quarts. Six quarts causes bad noises.

IIRC QwikCobra did a write-up on this.

7 is a little more than recommended, but a good amount.

If you are at WOT for an extended period of time, the extra oil is good insurance the pick-up does not suck the pan dry.

i always used 6.5 qts

I throw in 6.5 quarts, then run it and see where it is on the dipstick. It usually will take a little more to top it off.

I put in between 6.5 and 7. I always make sure it is to the top of the fill line on the dipstick. These heads hold a lot of oil, better safe and sorry.
