Pontiac G8 GXP Finds More Power

Since last season’s auto shows, actual power ratings have been released for the new Corvette ZR1 and Cadillac CTS-V, revealing more power than GM’s own conservative estimates. The same has now happened for the 2009 Pontiac G8 GXP. Originally shown at the 2008

New York auto show with an estimated 402 hp and 402 pounds-feet of torque, the car now has received a certified rating of 415 hp and 415 pounds-feet of torque, which is 3% more power than was initially quoted. Enthusiasts everywhere will likely be excited when it goes on sale later this year, but we wonder if the slow-selling G8 will see any halo effect from this high-powered version entering the lineup.

L76

See also the Vortec 6000 L76 L76 was originally Holden's version of the 6.0 L (5,967 cc/364.1 CID) Generation IV engine. While displacement on demand technology was disabled on Holdens, this feature is enabled on the 2008 Pontiac G8. The engine also meets Euro III emissions requirements. Output is 348 hp (260 kW) at 5600 rpm and 376 ft·lbf (510 N·m) at 4400 rpm for the Holden variant, and 361 hp (269.8 kW) and 385 ft·lbf of torque (526.5 N·m) for the G8 GT.[3]
Applications:The L67 is the Supercharged 3.8 in GTPs/GS's Chief, but yes, now I see.

DOD kills the power... Still a solid motor but they needed the active fuel management, like the GP GXP to get the mpgs up.

The G8 GT is one of the few cars I've driven where you can actually tell when the cylinders shut down -- not unnecessarily a good thing. There are vibrations in the floor pan and minor vibes through the steering wheel. Then again, there's no light telling you when you're in active fuel mode, so it may be a good thing if you can tailor your driving to that fuel mode

lol, Chevy's had a light so you know. My car you can only tell via the Instant Fuel Economy. I cannot feel when it drops into V4 mode... And to be honest I am really surprised too!

A whole bunch of cars do have a the light, and not having one is in the minority.

I just can't wait to get a hold of a manual G8, woo hoo!

G8 GT is an L67

G8GXP will have the LS3 IIRC

and the Corvette made more power because it had LS6 intake IIRC

thats also why Camaros make 270 WHP stock and a GTO makes 285 WHP stock. Camaro has LS1 intake, GTO has LS6

corvettes didnt make any more power than fbody, especially 01-02 fbodies. the fbody hp numbers were underrated every year it was made. fbody ls1s make 280-310 hp stock. and 01-02 fbodies came with ls6 intake stock on the car.
