The new 2012 Camaro may get a brand-new V6. Coded the "LFX", we're told it'll provide "significant improvement" on the LLT V6 found in the LS and LT Camaros. CadillacForums even claims it may hit 325-330HP.

Is the LFX and even higher output N/A v6 then? An ecoboost v6 mustang would be really bad ass and womp the LFX if that is the case. N/A v6 can't make the torque that a FI v6 can. Even then, that Camaro needs to go on a diet.

HP is nice, but the issue with the Camaro is curb weight. The Mustang is about 300 lbs lighter.

I don't see Ford adding the EcoBoost engine to the lineup anytime soon to battle the Camaro. Direct Injection would be a logical response to the hp wars.

I'd love one, but it doesn't really fit in the lineup when the 5.0 is 412hp. I can see them creating a really limited edition car with EcoBoost.

I would be surprised to see the Gen V in a 5th gen. I would bet the 6th gen would get the Gen V. At or below 3600lbs. with a 450 hp DI 5.5 will make things very interesting.

with gas prices going up again i would not mind. However, IIRC the V6 camaro already has DI V6 so is the valvetrain the only improvement. I was ok with the current V6.

Valve train, cams, intake mainifold is composite like the LS engines and different exhaust manifolds.

Loping a 1,000 pounds off this pig would really help all aspects of performance and economy far more then tacking more power will.
