Nissan GT-R battles 911 nemesis on video

Nissan GT-R vs Porsche 911 Turbo – it’s the clash of the year. And CAR has pitched the benchmark Porsche against the first GT-R to arrive in the UK, and you can watch the video at the foot of this page.

Two blown, four-wheel drive cars, each nudging the 500bhp mark, head-to-head on Rockingham’s infield circuit. In the first part of our video, assistant editor Ben Barry takes out the 911 Turbo to set the time for the GT-R to chase. But then the storm clouds blow in…

The Porsche was driven about 4 laps and its best time was approx 84 secs. They then attempted to track the GTR but rain stopped them for a moment. The rain quickly stopped and they used a new M3 to drift around the track and dry the race line. They jumped in the GTR and beat the Porsche time by one second on the first lap. They stopped after the first lap because they already beat the P-cars time.

the GTR has NEVER, and i will repeat, never been about beating any corvette in its history. its always been a huge rival with Porsche and nissan's original goal when building this new generation of GTR was to beat out the 911 in every way possible.
