So seeing as Don Yenko passed away long ago and there is no Yenko Chevrolet in Cannonsburg, PA anymore, what makes this a Yenko, other than some random guy (or Fox News) saying it is?

I'm am 100% certian these are not "original" 1968 Yenko Camaros. They are tributes, clones, recreations, or whatever, but they are not original.

This is TCG and people dont fucking read.

While the originals were built in the late l960s, Tulsa, Oklahoma-based Brand New Muscle Car (BNMC) plans to build new versions of the 1968 Yenko Camaro to celebrate the car's 50th anniversary.

BNMC is a specialist at building new versions of old cars and has permission from General Marketing Capital, the license holder of the Yenko name, to use it on the cars. According to GM Authority, BNMC's Yenko Camaros will even be listed in the Official Yenko Worldwide Registry for authenticity

Don Yenko sold the rights to the name before he died. Someone owns the rights and is licensing these cars. No different than any other licensing deal.

These are probably built with reproduction bodies too. Anyone with FU money will buy a real one. Not buy some overpriced, reproduction body, tribute car.

ehhhhhhhhhhhhh

that's kinda another league though. True documented yenko cars are 2-3x this price though.

i know a few people with FU money, that have reproduction cars.

i mean, by that logic too, no cobra repo's would ever sell, but we all know damn well those move pretty easily.

isn't it aslo kinda hard to come across an original yenko car, only like 300 or so were made. so when they do come up, they are STUPID money.

I am not saying tribute cars are dumb. But you can buy a used 68 Camaro and build your own tribute for less than $150K+. I just meant if someone really wanted a real car, and had FU money, I am sure they could manage to get one.

Look at the 1969 COPO, Yenko, and LZ1 tribute cars that were selling for almost as much as a real one back in 2004-2008. They were getting big money. As soon as the car market turned south with the stock market, the tribute cars were worth Big block SS money. Yet the real cars stayed up in value. Or just didn't sell until the market turned around some. A real car is going to hold value way better than a recreation, continuation, or whatever you want to call it, will.

I think the big ticket here though is that they are recreations, but will still be "listed in the Official Yenko Worldwide Registry for authenticity" as a clone car will never be.

im hoping and thinking the cars mentioned in the OP will be done better than what 150k into a 68 resto would get you... and with what shit costs nowadays i don't doubt it

Why would they be better than any other reputable restoration shop? I know guys who have had COPO, Yenko, and ZL1' restored by shops other than this place. Amazing cars with correct parts and show winners. This place is better than anyone why?

Yenko added what at the dealership? A decal package, 427 motors, valve covers, wheels, and aftermarket tach? Nothing hard to buy when repro parts are available. At least in your own build, you can use N.O.S., reconditioned original parts, and even correct date code & stampings versus repro parts these cars will be built with.

If they use a repro body, I can't see why they would even be attractive to anyone.

I am all for them being made. That means more business for my company. I know who owns the Yenko name and I am happy he gets to direct the name and brand. But I don't see a significant value in these cars over time.

If they do it correctly, assembly line style, purchasing parts with volume discounts, etc, they will be able to build a better overall quality vehicle cheaper than a restoration shop could, and quicker that's undeniable.

I did fucking read it. And understand it very well.

The title to the article says "original" Yenkos. That's what I was commenting about. Nothing original about them. They are tributes.

If they are totally brand new bodies, I believe they need to meet modern emissions regulations or they need a 1968 VIN somehow. Someone back a few years found a few vintage '65 Shelby Cobra bodies, with '65 VINs and built those to '65 specs. That's not what is happening here.

they won't have to meet emissions, there's some small manufacturer loop hole vin number deal where you have to build at least x amount but not above x amount

im betting they will be 2018/19 (modern) vins.
