Chrysler 300 Hellcat - 707-HP Chrysler 300 Rumored

Report: A Chrysler 300 Hellcat is Happening » AutoGuide.com News

Ever since Fiat Chrysler started dropping 707-horsepower Hellcat engines into its cars, we've been wondering if and when the Chrysler 300 would get the same treatment. The 300 shares its platform with the Charger and Challenger, which already have Hellcat variants, so it makes sense, right? According to this latest report from Automotive News, we won't be wondering much longer.

In a report detailing the future of Chrysler's lineup, Automotive News mentioned that before Chrysler refreshes the 300 for 2019, it will build a Hellcat version of the luxury sedan in late 2018. Why? Well the engine fits, so why not?

Automotive News doesn't mention much else, but judging by how they were the first publication to report on the existence of the Dodge Demon, this report shouldn't be quickly dismissed. If you're wondering what exactly a Chrysler 300 Hellcat might look like, AutoGuide has a collection of spy shots that are believed to be just that.

The 300 needs an update bad. Why is Chrysler's answer to every mediocre car they sell to just throw a Hellcat engine in it?

GM already ran this play in the mid-2000's by LS'ing all the things and it went predictably poorly.

What passenger cars did GM "LS" other than proper RWD vehicles such as the GTO, CTS-V and Corvette in the mid-2000's?

Are you referring to the massive selling LS4 FWD Impala SS and Grand Prix GXP? That was a huge waste of LS motors (shhh, I have one).

That was one platform outside of the RWD realm that got it. Nothing else. It was their performance cars and trucks that got GenIII+ Small blocks.

That and the Chevy SS truck thing are the two cars that came to mind. No doubt Chrysler seems to be worse with the Hellcat engine. It's like Chrysler can't build a quality car and they can't actually sell anything so they just keep throwing this engine in anything with wheels and basking in the short-lived endorphin rush that comes from enthusiasts that will never buy the car anyhow. Sorry to be Debbie Downer. I'm sure the three people that were waiting for the Hellcat motor before buying their 300 are going to be just delighted.

*Eagerly awaiting the Jeep Liberty Hellcat*
