Some will argue it drives up the high price of service at a dealer which is bullshit. Non Union dealers are charging just as much.
Thats a lot of posts to read. LOL

Unions are a relec of the industrial revolution, and that is just a fact. So many laws have been enacted for fair labor and pay, but for some reason unions are still around.

Does anyone know if the Union does Patrick Hyundai in Schaumburg? My wife just took the car there yesterday, and luckily no big issues. Oil change and out.

Also, I hate the fucking inflatable rat. I wanna slash it every time I see it. Its ugly and WTF DOES IT MEAN? Its stupid.

I remember they were picketing a shop that's in the same building as my company is, and had the huge rat out front, and we're on a little side street with no traffic....

A week later on the weekend that shop closed up and packed all their stuff and left. On Monday the union was out there striking... I asked if they noticed the customer no longer used this building since obviously all their trucks were gone and the office was empty....

They sat out there for the rest of the week picketing a company that wasn't even here anymore.

We thought about organizing yeaaaars ago when we felt we werent being valued and treated fairly. There was alot of favoritism here and some of us felt that wasnt right. Every now and then a rep would stop by and drop off pamphlets. after that wed get a talking to by the boss. Of course we never took it to vote since we knew it would be a 50/50 vote and after that wed get fired. We knew who would vote and who wouldnt. Alot of suck dicks here as well. So we let it go...

In current times, we are feeling the pressure of being corporate owned. Huge cut backs and such. Us being the most lucrative branch, is also the most expensive branch... I know what corpo is thinking.... "why are the NW guys making double our other techs at our other branches"

its thanks to the current market here... The other branches are located in shit holes where their economy is weak, us being here in chicago, the worlds most powerful market...

We may have to look further into the organizing since everyone now hates corpo

Looks like the dealers are "unionizing" against the workers.

from my understanding, the dealers choose to be part of the union group to hire union techs.

and from what @Nate has said, per contract, if they break union ties they cannot opperate service for 6 months after they break contract.

is there a fine if they do opperate within that 6 months?

also is naperville caddy part of the 701 union? i thought it was said that the other Napelton group that was striking was NOT part of the 701 union.

Yep. Wonder how many shops doing this would it take until the people striking say it's not worth losing their job over?

Can't wait for schools to say this to the teachers when they go on strike.

the whole union mechanic is better than the non-union. Exact same thing these retard millennials are saying holding their degree jobless or stuck at entry level.

The contract is expired. The dealer can do whatever they want, it's their company.

When you go on strike, there's no guarantee you get your job back. The dealer could decide they don't want a new contract and turn over the entire workforce, no more union shop

From the article:

"According to Trade Association communications director Mark Bilek, the sides agreed on some points before the union voted on Sunday to strike, including 5 percent annual pay raises, full pension payments and full family health care."

I'd be thrilled with guaranteed 5% annual raises plus pension and healthcare...
