It surely looks better than a BRZ...no doubt about that!

An ox born in 2015 or later is likely putting out more power than a BRZ. Now in all fairness, you will have to feed it corn, wheat, and whatever else ox's eat, which could be more expensive than gasoline. But that is the kind of power (lack of) we are talking about here.
i don't understand how you can claim the brz is an unbearable intolerable car yet you tool around in an 02 GT which is a couch with an inefficient engine. why haven't you gotten rid of it and upgraded to something like a new gt or a nice brz

Its nostalgic for me...I've owned it for 14 years. Would I go out any buy one at any point over the last 10 years? Hell no. But I bought it when I was 20, I've had a ton of fun with it, and don't ever plan on selling it. I enjoy driving it to work on nice Fridays in the summer.

Now, why haven't I bought a new GT? Mostly because of the lack of storage, and need for more practical vehicles. I needed a large family car/suv (Explorer) and I needed something 4 door for myself (MKS). In today's day and age, I wouldn't buy anything much under 400 horsepower, so it limits my choices on SUV's and sedans, without spending crazy money. I bought the Explorer brand new (~$50k), and the MKS used (~$20k), and with four kids, a stay at home wife, and private school tuition, frankly I can't afford to drop another $50k on another car right now (GT350 or Corvette for me if I pulled the trigger).

Now, if I were single with no kids, or a DINK, I surely would have bought a pretty awesome performance car in the recent years. Z06 or GT350R would probably be my choices. BRZ wouldn't be an option....because its slow. If I cared about a handling car right now...I'd buy a damn BRZ if it wasn't such a turd...they're cheap!

So in short, I have a family that is expensive and limits what I can blow away on awesome shit like new performance cars.

I see nothing wrong with tooling around in an 02GT mustang I have unreliable Fords that can die at any time and they're slow, but I love driving them around.

i guess you guys are just looking for that cheap fun brand new 400 hp 25k car. i'll buy one of those when they come out too.

I don't think anyone is truly arguing that the BRZ needs 400+ hp...

they are arguing that people cross shop BRZs and 400 hp cars though.

and i'm arguing they won't be happy in a 240 hp BRZ anyway.

I've lost track of what everyone's arguing about at this point. I think it started as saying that they should have at least given the BRZ a bump in power, and then somehow moving from that the comparisons came in.

I would agree that not many people would be cross shopping a 400hp car with a BRZ. If power was really what they wanted, they'd buy a 400hp car. I think there is some middle ground between 200 and 400hp that Subaru could have gone.

Who said that? People surely look at V6 Mustangs, V6 Camaros, Genesis Coupes, etc. when buying a BRZ because they are similarly priced sporty coupes. My original point was that BRZ's aren't that "cheap" as you pointed out and the MSRP is more than that of a V6 Mustang and within a few grand of a GT (if you know where to look).

I personally wouldn't be happy with a 240 hp BRZ, but it's all perspective. 300+ horsepower would be interesting in a 2,800 lb vehicle though.

actually that was my point, that those are the apples/peers and those that buy them don't bring them out to do anything. then for some reason you would bring up oranges. also ryan has a spreadsheet post of the most meaningless metric of all in this thread in which he included things like a ferrari, for like, reasons.

neither would ryan nor a lot of people. if it was 240 they'd be whining it wasn't 280. 300+ horsepower in a 2800 lb vehicle is called a cayman. fun indeed.

if someone really wanted that combo there's nothing to stop them anyway, i mean if you are willing to pay 5k more for a 300 hp brz you can buy one now and spend 5k on boost.

brz is NOT designed for straight line speed though. its designed to turn right AND left.

put it on a small twisty track and that low hp slow BRZ will be faster than you id bet.

Where, when?!?! I don't see info in that thread.

Could maybe be down later in the year, if I get a drag race in return.

I bought a 13 FRS for my son. It was a very fun car to drive and got 28 mpg. Not sure why all the hate? Feels like the SHO hate. Which I owned also and almost beat a GTR.

a friend is asking for pics for a facebook groups thing. in any case i went through mine and here's an example of subaru supposedly not building a car for drivers - this is from 5/22 last year, bmw club track day, there was no coordinated effort for us to all go here. there were more and we're just the ones who parked together.
