I can without a doubt say that on any given weekend, there are more Mustangs at road courses across the nation than BRZ's. NASA for example has multiple classes where Mustangs have significant representation (AIX, AI, and CMC).

Sickmint's polling is bogus...

This is a great point!

@bikrboy128 @sickmint79 Can we get a similar analysis showing HP as a ratio of weight?

NASA is hobbyists. These are guys that turn their own wrenches and fund their own racing. Most guys that run SCCA and NASA are amature racers, not pros with a racing team backing them.

There's entire Mustang events like Northwoods Shelby.

Your statement is bogus.

We probably need a HP/Liter analysis too. Maybe @Turk can throw in a gearing multiplication analysis too if we want to get really scientific.

if you inflation adjust this you'll surely see the gt and brz are much cheaper and probably comparable. but what is your point there? the value for value if you thought this car was a good deal in 02 by this metric then it would still be a good deal today. and since it's better than a gt and you are pretending to value this metric, when are you trading that gt in for the brz? here i actually did the math - gt ~$121 and brz ~124. not sure why you are pretending to care since every comment you've made in the thread shows you care about one thing only, going fast(ish) in a straight line.

Your statement is bogus.
their website is nasaracing.com. the classes you are referring to are race classes, not enthusiast classes by experience. i've never attended a nasa hpde but my bet is that hpde is not any more well attended by mustangs than other typical hpdes.

you also keep misinterpreting my statement as "mustangs don't track" when my real statement is "people who spend 25k on a new car and track don't buy mustangs."

note in the under 25k list, the brz is 25,500. at 205 hp, 2784 lbs, that would give it a 13.58 so it would be 3rd on that list. right behind the base mustang, that sorry jason, never shows up at a track.

After a sampling of some performance cars, some soccer mom vehicles, and some average commuters it appears the 2017 Subaru BRZ has about half of what would be considered "normal" horsepower in today's day and age.

This is an automotive phenomenon like no other based on this analysis!

You wouldn't have to...thats the point.

An ox born in 2015 or later is likely putting out more power than a BRZ. Now in all fairness, you will have to feed it corn, wheat, and whatever else ox's eat, which could be more expensive than gasoline. But that is the kind of power (lack of) we are talking about here.

An ox cart probably has better tech than a BRZ.
