There are more than enough people who would shell out 150K for this car. I think 120-150 will be the sweet spot. Anything more than that and I agree, people will buy a real exotic. My guess is this is a test to see if the Corvette brand can be expanded. GM won't stop making the tried and true front engine/rwd car.

Depends how much of the parts bin is used. I would be surprised if this got an exclusive engine. Trans I could see, but not engine. Interior parts, suspension parts, seats, etc.

Exclusivity sells too. There's not a lower/cheaper volume Ford GT model.

Plus the GT story is pretty cool.

I think GM would have more buyers in that range from a premium brand like Cadillac vs. Chevy, plus the obvious "halo" car for Caddy. VW has done this well with Huracan and R8.

You could argue that the Corvette brand is considered as premium as a Cadillac. Cadillac never had a super car and is compared more to Mercedes, BMW, Lexus. The Corvette has been compared to Ferrari, Lamborghini and Viper. I think this car will be a Corvette and further the separation between Chevy and the Corvette. Splitting Corvette into it's own brand has been rumored for years. I don't see the benefit to call a GM supercar a Cadillac. Lambo wasn't always VW, Corvette has always been GM.

Z06 tops out at about 115k. I doubt it'll be any where near there.

In addition to the C7 and the C8 the document also allegedly revealed a “Cadillac Sports Car” using the same 4.2-liter and 5.5-liter motors, both of which are expected to be turbocharged. The 5.5-liter motor is reported to have an output of up to 850 HP and 720 lb-ft of torque. The 4.2 is speculated to have a max output of 420 HP.

I really never thought I would see the day that GM made a mid engine corvette, or that it would spin corvette off into its own brand.

The 5.5 litre LS/LT has been rumored forever. Every since the ALMS limited the C6R's class to 5.5 litres.

Does GM even produce the enduro program engines, or do they farm the work out to the team?

EDIT: Apparently not.

Quote:
The TUDOR United Sportscar Championship series in which the C7.R competes mandates that all cars must not have an engine larger than 5.5-liters for competitive reasons. This forced the Corvette Racing team to forego the supercharged LT4 engine in favor of the naturally aspirated 5.5-liter Pratt & Miller unit.
