The BMW M2 Will Cost $51,700

BMW officially unveiled the new 2016 BMW M2 at the Detroit Auto Show today. It's aggressively styled, has bulging fenders, and is very, very blue. At least this version.

Beneath the hood is a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged straight-six that makes 365-hp and 343 lb-ft of torque. The car's DCT gearbox helps it hit 60 in just 4.1 seconds. That kind of acceleration is what helped it slay the tarmac at the Nurburgring, setting a 7.58 lap time.

Lots of great competition at that price point, like the GT350

BMW's 3.0L needs some more ponies too. Lincoln, the senior citizen's car company, is making 400/400 out of a 3.0L V6. I guess if they give it more horsepower, it might start eroding M3 sales.

50k plus gets into a hell of a lot of low mile lightly used cars like damn near GTR prices........

Edit: yes apples to oranges before anyone throws a fit but 50k is 50k...... just saying......

I'll be the one to say it: I don't think many BMW buyers are cross-shopping Camaros. I'm not saying one car is better than the other, just that they don't seem to share much in common other than both being rear wheel drive coupes.

It's like the old Mustang argument. Insert any brand car here and some dolt would be like "you can buy a Mustang for half that!".
