I don't get how they made an LS7 have 9.0L displacement. I thought 7L was about the limit.

i swear i recall that some billet lsx blocks are spread bore/bbc hybrids

as for ls7, i believe your right on the oem stuff's limit

then again. that's a mercruiser rework of something that looks a lot like GM's old 3.4 twin dual cam head/valvetrain/belt drive design using 5 cams.... so who knows what voodoo lurks within

Their literature is confusing, but the bolt 4-valve LS heads and that 9.0L QC4 crate engine are two completely different things. Its not an LS engine at all. The QC4 I think is an adaptation of there Big-Block style boat engine made to be put in a car.

I visited Mercury Racing last year. Watched a QC4 being built. Quite stout! Not an LSx block at all. OTOH, the DOHC heads shown here on an LSx block are bolt ons. I'd love to see what that motor does on dyno and track compared to an OEM LSx motor. I like the way they have engineered what is effectively a camshaft "girdle" so that its separate from the cam cover. Wasn't clear whether it used the GM PCM or Mercury's. I know the QC4 does have its own PCM.
Did they announce anything on pricing for the heads?
