They can't tow because of the soft suspension setup for offroad. That and the hitch mounts to basically a 2x4 of metal only in back.

There are a lot if rumours surrounding this... One is that Toledo cannot produce aluminum body parts... Only north Toledo, sterling heights, and belvidere plants are capable. And since belvidere is discontinuing the compatriot, they might move production of the wrangler here! Also they are reportedly gong to try and make it a uni body and use IFS, which had a lot of "purists" upset...

If they go IFS for the sake of comfort and on road driving then I can see why jeep guys would be upset. But keep in mind the hummer H1 is ifs (and irs for that matter) and nobody ever bitched about it

Alot of people are saying forced induction 4cyl (new hurricane engines), smaller displacement v6 with forced induction, and possibly the ecodiesel are the likely engine choices

I'm fine with forced inducted smaller engines. I wonder if they go aluminum unibody can they design it to fit a solid axle up front.

I didn't know this... But I guess a major reason they are trying to go away with the solid axle due to all the "death wobble" lawsuits? Read it on a article yesterday - I know what it is but thought it was just lifted junk, I never knew it was so prevalent on a stock wranglers

If they're smart, they've been taking ques from the ultra4/koh guys who run IFS and transfer some of those ideas/technology to a production IFS that can hold up to abuse.
