Why do they tease me so. I'm not sold on the exhaust note, but then again its a 4 banger and I am prejudiced to hate 4 pot noises.

But I want the car, badly.

I look at it this way.

40k Focus RS vs C6 Z06

I think I know which way I'd swing.

Well when you put it like that... Either way both of my cars would have to go to make anything possible.

But seriously, seems like the right price point. Bases $1K less than the Golf R, one of its main competitors, and $1K more than the STI. $35K seems exactly where it should be priced. Plus it's got 40 more HP than the STI and 50 more than the Golf. Seems like a deal

Yeah about 5-6 grand too much for me. If they could've have made the base option around 30-31k they would have ate up wrx, sti, and golf markets

Guess ill go buy a wrx

I don't see how the RS could start at 30-31k since a Focus st3 is about that price fully loaded, i am surprised the msrp is not a little higher when you factor in all of the tech/extra hp and awd system. we are all looking forward to this car, and have to hand it to Ford, they have been doing an amazing job over the past few years. I can definitely see dealers having a huge mark up on these because of limited quantity.

a base st msrp is now 24360 used to be 25595

so $11370 = 2.3l and awd system

2016 Ford Focus RS Gets To 60 In 4.7 Seconds, Will Top 165 MPH

Quote:
Even though we haven’t driven it yet, we’re already falling in love with the 345-horsepower Ford Focus RS, mostly because of its DRIFT MODE button. But here’s something else to make you fall in love with it. It’ll get to highway speeds in 4.7 seconds, according to Ford, and will keep going all the way to 165 MPH.

That’s way, way beyond hot-hatch territory. That’s boiling-lava-all-over-your-face-hatch territory. For comparison, that’s just about the same as a Porsche Cayman S.

And since it’ll be competing with all of the other boiling-lava small cars, it should be right around the same price, too. Ford hasn’t said anything about American pricing yet, but in the United Kingdom it’ll cost £28,940. Compare that with the Volkswagen Golf R at £30,820 in jolly old England, and £28,995 for a Subaru WRX STi, and it’s right on the proverbial money.

For comparison, a Volkswagen Golf R goes for $35,650 in the US, and the Subie goes for $34,695, and the original Ford Focus RS price we heard of $35,730 sounds just about right, too.

UPDATE: As Oppo user fourvalleys points out, $35,730 is apparently the official price on Ford’s website as of this morning.

But do those cars have DRIFT MODE buttons for maximum hoonage as well?

I don’t think so. USA USA USA, America #1.

Oh, and it’s also got launch control. But lots of cars have launch control nowadays.

DRIFT MODE.
