Question is...would anyone really buy a Corvette with LESS than 400hp? Seems retarded.

If you're burnt out on musings about the Chevrolet Corvette, you'll want to go ahead and skip this post. Motor Trend reports General Motors is hard at work on a low-cost version of the seventh-generation sports car for 2015. Rumored to be called the Corvette Coupe, the car will forgo the Stingray and skip the 450-horsepower 6.2-liter V8 engine in favor of a 5.3-liter V8 with under 400 ponies. If you're keeping track, that's a shade of the same engine found behind the headlights of the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra.

The report also suggests the Coupe will receive a number of aesthetic tweaks to separate it from the Stingray, including different front and rear fascias as well as new front fenders and a rear diffuser. Motor Trend says the point of all this is to cut the car's price tag, which means we may see a Corvette on showroom floors for less than $50,000 if this car comes to fruition.

Maybe...Id be curious what vette owners think (aside from Panda :mamoru:)

Since you asked.... I think it's a great idea IF they do it right. They would need to make it very track oriented and dump the frills like 7 different driving modes, that rev match bullshit, two tone interior, targa top and such. It would have to be like a cayman sort of or a 1 series. Make it a fun car to drive. The people that sit in parking lots want the stingray, they don't give a shit what it costs. It has to be targeted at younger people like 30-40 years old. They need a cheaper performance car because the Camaro has being bastardized ad bloated. Old men that thing giant talking robots are cool buy that shit box. If GM can sell a $50K Camaro then they can sell a sub 400 hp Vette, there is a niche for it.

I sure as hell wouldn't want to own a poverty vette

Are you kidding, if this is anything like all the recent entry level "poverty" luxury cars like the G25, 320i, c250 etc etc... That vette will sell

Anything people can do to make it look like the have something worth more than it is

Remember, a 318ti owner can still say they own a bmw when asked

A entry level vette is still a c7 vette!
