Quote:

The final chapter on 2008 has now closed, as automakers reported their final sales figures today. Weíll break out some of the biggest winners and losers of the year in a separate post, but first we wanted to put together the final list of 2008ís best-selling cars, SUVs and trucks.

Even after sky-high gas prices and an economic meltdown, the top performers havenít really changed. Trucks like the Ford F-Series and Chevy Silverado still outperformed any car on the market. And besides the long-running economy car picks of the Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla, there werenít any tiny, fuel-sipping cars on the list.

We also list the top car sales for the month of December, where the biggest move was made by the Chevy Malibu: Itís now the No. 3 midsize sedan on the market behind the Toyota Camry and Honda Accord, besting Nissan Altima sales by a whopping 44 units.

take away all the fleet sales that the automakers make very little or nothing and that list will be very different. Most of those trucks are not ones that you or me will buy. they are mostly service trucks. also ford sells more because they sell a piece of crap for really cheap. I drove a service truck for 7 years first a ford then a chevy the chevy was 100 times better.

plus if you add the sierra and silverado together, they beat the F150 by a big margin...

kinda weak sauce how GM and Ford can top the list of most automobiles sold, and yet almost go bankrupt.... sounds like production costs are ridiculous compared to other companies
