yeah stock block...

what what..

We changed a few things since the last time this car ran. One was the addition of the new ZZP aluminum heads. We were previously running GM aluminum heads with ZZP stage 4 work done to them. Another change was a modified reluctor wheel on the crank pulley to allow a wider range of timing control for building boost while staging. We also changed the converter stall speed, but it's basically back to where it was before we tried changing it a couple months ago.

The first pass of the night was a 9.2x at 151 at 20 psi and no boost at the line. The second pass was at 22 psi and launching at 5-6 psi it spun pretty bad and went 9.2 again. After they glued the track again, I was able to launch at 9 psi for a 1.36 sixty foot and 8.94 at 152 at 22 psi for a personal best ET. I later tried to launch at 11 psi, but smoked the tires and got a 1.9 sixty foot on that run.

Because of the new timing setup, I started out very conservative at ~15 degrees of timing. By the end of the night it was around 19. I usually run 22-23, but the car still should have had more mph at 19 deg and 22 psi. I started looking over some things today and realized that the ignition module is not grounded. I forgot to hook it back up after swapping the heads.

We did this on Zoom's GTP once and it ran like crap until we fixed it. Perhaps this was the reason for the low trap speeds. I guess we will have to race again soon and find out.

Or this daily driven one that has a stock 239k mile block that went 11.9s...

5th pass, I let the car sit for about an hour to cool down. I dropped the tires down to 12.5psi this time. I also added 1* of timing to it. (for a total of 23*)

60': 1.7290
330': 4.9600
1/8: 7.6700 @ 90.91
1000': 10.0030
1/4: 11.9912 @ 112.99

Hell yea, car finally went 11's! I made a few other passes after that trying to go further into the 11's but it didn't really work out. The next pass was a 12.0571 @ 113.05 w/1.773 60'. After that I tried spraying it and had some issues, went 12.8 @ 110, then i ran it in street trim with my jack in the car, slicks in the back, all my tools, etc..... and it went 13.3 @ 111.

I got my 11 second pass so I'm happy, i'd just like the car to be further into the 11's. I need to do a little more work to the car and run it in a little better race trim next time, hoping for 11.80's, and maybe 11.40's or so on the bottle if I can get the issues worked out. The car rolled over 239,000 miles on the way home, so I guess I can't complain too much about that.

well the fastest 3800 in the world has a few oiling mods done to it but still a cast block. Matt is the only one to claim he has not touched any passages on his motor(pushing that kind of power).
Both cars 1/4 mile times stand for themselves as what a 3800 can do.
hell Bob's traps 159 mph....that says somthing right there.

If he doesnt believe it ask him what company makes an aftermarket block and crank(one that will hold lots of boost) for the series II.

only real options for aftermarket motors are slapping a extremly modified T/A performance block and make it work in a FWD setup

Nice. Any vids?
There were a few cameras rolling most of the night so hopefully someone got it.

quote:

what do you think this set up is capable of?

As it sits it should run 8.70s.

quote:

Do you run only the one ground wire on the harness or did you add another ground?
Just the factory harness.

is this still stock block/crank/pistons or....?

Yes, stock L67 bottom end.

I just straight up asked in the thread... and what does he have to prove... if it wasnt, he'd be all about saying that, because he works for zzp/stattama, not GM.

STOCK bottom end.
