I'm going to be doing the big 3 today and I can't locate the engine ground to chassis wire. Anyone know where it's at? Thanks in advance.

engine ground to chasis shouldnt be hard to find its usually a big ass black cable coming off to the frame lol

Rewire alternator to positive battery, negative battery to chassis, engine ground to chassis with 4 gauge wire. I'm running a 500rms amp and already have issues getting full power to it and now have HID's so I don't want to drain my battery.

My alternator rewire just goes from the alternator to the ground behind the fuse box...

you can pretty much do whatever, but going to the battery is going to put out the most power. I just ran the wire to the positive post of the fuse box.

thats the same thing panda said. alt. to the positive terminal on the fuse box.

It may level it out but it isn't magically going to give me more power. I'd rather take the old wires I have laying around from my last wiring kit and see how this works before I go and blow $100 on a good capacitor.

the best buy and circuit city capacitors you are most likely talking about... dont really do too much...

1-2 farads is like jack shit...

theres a company out of marengo, that makes custom subwoofers and amplifiers, and also makes capacitors, but instead of 1-2 farad, 5-50... those make a difference...

and in reply to the OP... on my grand prix... i have a jl 4 channel and a rf 2 channel... and i can run my stereo at 3/4 volume without my car on for about 2 hours.... and it will still start first crank... and i havent done anything that you are going to be doing...

i just have the best yellow top optima you can get for our application... my hids dont flicker... my stereo is loud... and my car is never dead...



and no capacitor...

Well nothings died on me yet, but I can tell because when I start my car up my subs will pound really loud, but just progressively get quieter after running the amp for about 10 minutes. I figured I would just try this to see what it does and if it didn't help then I may just need to get some little 12v fans and make an amp rack cause my amp may just get hot too fast. Either way I'm getting rid of the old stock wiring and putting in some bigger wires so it will help with the current flow.

i agree. ive got redtops in all my cars because i dont have any crazy audio stuff but like knowing i wont have a starting issue and can listen to music when ever i'm doing interior work for hours if i want.

yeah before i had my gtp... my battery was in a lumina with 3 amplifiers... dvd player monitors blah blah dumb (highschool stuff) and i could watch movies for an hour or two quite loud (5.1 surroundsound) and my car would start up immediately after...
