the lubing of it fixes it for a bit but it always comes back, most in warranty repairs were the tech just compressing it and extending it to get the grease redistributed and quieting it for a time.
only true fix is a new iss.....but it will eventually come back even then

im surprised the new one's dont have a damn zerk fitting....i wonder if you can put one in it...hmmm tg should look into this since he's been trying to get me to replace his for some time now

White lithium grease helped for just a couple of days. Taking it out and re-lubing seems to only be a short term fix as well. I figure if I'm taking it out, might as well replace it with new. It's not hard to do, but I wouldn't want to do it again and again.

What I don't understand is that my '98 GS has twice the milage as my '02, but the ISS has never been replace and feels great. Maybe a different design between the years? Maybe they interchange?
