any stored codes from the failure? Any other issues with the car prior to the failure?

Compression seems in line 150/175 although the difference (15%) is a little high, 150 compression is plenty to run a 3800... If the wetness is fuel, then you just need to check spark.

If the wetness is coolant you need to find the leak.... If the wetness is oil, try swapping the Valve guide seals (relatively inexpensive, and can be done in the car)

how does one check spark? how can you tell whether it's gas or coolant on the plugs? it will smell like gas either way...

could it be the headgasket...although uncommon, it starting to sound like it since he said when he was driving on the highway it just died and smoked like a bitch. the car des have like 230K miles of some shit. could it be like a cracked head or something?

Gas will smell like gas, and coolant will smell like coolant :dunno: what brand coolant smells like gas?
