so im sort of tearing down the pricks just a lil bit to get some stuff coated- and i was doing it to get a beefier chain put in my trans.

then i saw this today.

i stopped working.

It's reallllly tough to weld those cases. They are a porous cast aluminum and tend to just to melt and open when you attempt to weld them (kind of like heating a piece of styrofoam). The SHO's use to break the shifter stabilizer boss and they were a pain in the taint to reliably fix because of that.

I'm not a welder so I don't know. I just know that my welder absolutely hated them.

The big question should be, how bad is it, pop the crossover off and see how far it goes. If it is just the bell housing jb weld or have someone actually tig weld it, a mig would just melt that shitty cast aluminum. If it goes further through the case, time to swap... If your trans is already built, you can swap it all to a new case, and take the opportunity to inspect/replace your clutches, and any worn hard parts
