+1 on wiring in a switch.
Also, if you don't want to change stock shift patterns (and are on a stock car) you can just have your buddy change WOT shifting patterns in the WOT upshift/downshift tables.

+2 on touching trans pressures. Shorter shift times, !torque management (idk if FWD cars have this option, i knew my RWD 3800 series did), adjusted shift points, adjusted downshift vs TPS shift points should be more than enough to get some extra performance without sacrificing your trans.

Ever look at a DHP canned tune? The line pressure is pretty much at max from idle to redline!

I'm personally not a fan of doing that (because it can lead to seal failure over a long-term basis)...however it wouldn't (or shouldn't) cause hard part failures. I bump them up a little, but increase exponentially with rpm's.
