Trans removal/install place/people

We'll the park avenue's trans/stall is saying its final goodbye's. It's got 126k on it and the converter wont stay locked up anymore and the fuild is pretty shiny.
Anybody on here replace them or know a place that does? If so how much, and how much am I looking at for a decent used trans/stall to put back in it?

I just need a figure to decide if it'll be worth it to fix. It's a great car and everything works but it's also my DD.

It's a buick 1994 park avenue.

Junk yard would be the best bet. A rebuild or "race trans" would not be worth it IMO.

Should be no more then a few hundred.

Any info on what year tran's/stalls would be interchangeable? I have very little knowledge on 3800's lol

james (turbocharged400SBC or whatever his name is now) should also be very able to manage this. he is more familiar with pre series 2 transmissions and etc. I would think there would be plenty of good transmissions in the aurora u-pull-it yard basedon the last few times I have gone there.

For all I know, it could just be the stall taking a crap and needing a trans flush. Might try and get ahold of raygtps about a new stall install hmm

do a pain drop and change filter and whatever fluid you can get out see if it improves. Look at car-part.com for a trans

My aplogies for having a different name for the same thing. Stall speed = torque converter, unless they are 2 different parts.

And I have heard of flushing the trans ruining it before, wasn't sure if it was true or not.
