um. gtp going haywire. heated seat/fans/dic on/off/on/off

my buddy just bought an 01 4 door gtp...

called me up- sayin the heated seat/fans/dic, are just going haywire- randomly turning on and off and on and off...

thoughts?

Sounds like a ground/switch issue. Want me to see if I can find some wiring diagrams for ya? I have access to shop key.

Just as a starting point, ignition switch issues will sometimes cause this, I'd start there, as it is one of the few points that all interior accessories are connected..... If the car is also having issues with stalling, or the engine sputtering, I'd check the neg battery connections and body grounds

Should be just one unit. It comes with the switch dealio buy the key cylinder and a wire harness that runs down the steering column.

It can be disassembled and cleaned for free, it is a carbon build-up that causes the issues, I've cleaned mine twice, it only needed it the one time, the second time was as a precaution 2-3 years later:

if he decides to attempt cleaning it be very careful when opening it is full of springs and they will bounce out everywhere! no fun.

Just do it on a table pedobear, they are small and not under a ton or pressure, so I didn't have any issues with them shooting out or anything

Just a thought, these things go nuts when you're driving them with a weak battery. I forgot to plug my alternator back in once after tinkering with the engine and that's exactly what the car was doing. Shit just goes nuts and turns itself on and off.
